So you think you need counselling?

First things first.  If you have never considered therapy before, then you will need to speak to someone in confidence to discuss what it is you are worried about and how counselling might help.

Whatever it is, an assessment of your needs and expectations is a good starting point.  Then, if and when you decide that you want to proceed, a firm agreement can be made with me - so you know what to expect.

If you click on the ABOUT ME section, you will get a good idea of what I do, who says I can do it and what I might be able to help with - though I have not listed every issue ever thought of.  If I am not the right person for you, I will recommend someone who is.

  • Who says?
I don't really think it's a great idea to publish testimonials - just a personal
view about keeping things private even long after... So check out my
qualifications and professional registrations that maybe reassure
you of my fitness to practice.

Also I am UKRCP registered which means that we feature on the
Accredited Register for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
This confirms that my training has also met the standards required to gain
entry on to the Accredited Register.  This Register is approved by the
Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
Hence my practice is deemed to meet the standard of competent, ethical
and independent practitioners assuring clients of high quality care.
  • How long?

It doesn’t have to take forever, brief interventions are a favourite but of course it depends.  Brief therapy is 6 - 20 weeks, and I rarely work with someone more than a year in long term therapy.  I will talk about it at the assessment though.  That session lasts an hour and it is where we decide together about what might help, and should we agree to work together, I explain fully how it might proceed.
